Robert Weis is a multilingual writer, editor, and geoscientist based in Luxembourg. His work lives at the meeting place of two gazes: the scientist’s, schooled in patient observation, and the poet’s, listening for the world’s quieter resonances.

His travel narratives on Japan, Retour à Kyôto (Transboréal, 2023) and Yamabushi: La sagesse des montagnes (Transboréal, 2025), carry the mark of this double belonging, as do his collections of poetry – Rêves d’un mangeur de kakis et autres poèmes and Les Chemins de Buachaille Etive Mòr (Michikusa Publishing) – steeped in Zen practice and a travel-worn, enduring wonder. Both travel narratives have since found new readers in Italian, as Ritorno a Kyoto (Gagio Edizioni, 2025) and, forthcoming, Yamabushi. La sagezza delle montagne (Ediciclo, 2027); A tiny Nature. Recollections of trees and poems gathers this same attention to the small and the rooted into a single volume.

Closer to home, he is drawn to the deeper geography of Luxembourg – its landscapes, histories, and hidden resonances. In collaboration with Italian geopoet and explorer Davide Sapienza, he traced the geopoetics of the Minett UNESCO Biosphere in Rocklines (Éditions Phi, 2022), and has continued this territorial listening in the Mëllerdall UNESCO Global Geopark.

He is a founding member and poetry editor of Michikusa Publishing, a member of Writers in Kyoto, and a board member of A:LL Schrëftsteller*innen. His writing appears in Cahiers luxembourgeois, Lëtzebuerger Land, Kyoto Journal, Limina Rivista, and FORUM Magazine Luxembourg.
